LMHC, NCC, CCTP, CCATP

I know this is an ‘about me’ page, but I don’t want to start there.

I want to tell you about Laura (not her real name), a bright light of a woman, wading through her mid-thirties while bearing the weight of anxiety, depression, and profound grief.

Laura was just like many of us, trying to juggle the responsibilities of life, while fighting an internal battle that no one could see. She was carrying a lot on her shoulders when we first met, her smile was weary but her eyes, they held a spark of hope.

Day by day, we worked together. As her counselor, I witnessed her courage firsthand and saw her determination to overcome her struggle.

Laura’s journey wasn’t easy; there were tears, silent moments, and occasional setbacks, but she persisted. Gradually, she started to regain her strength and her laughter became more frequent. Seeing her heal and take back control was one of the most rewarding early moments of my career. Her journey is a testament to the resilience of the human spirit.

My Own Journey

The journey that led me to become a mental health counselor wasn’t straightforward – it was a path full of bends, surprises, and deep introspection. Like you and Laura, I too have faced moments of darkness and uncertainty. I’ve struggled with anxiety, grappling with overwhelming feelings and thoughts that sometimes seemed uncontrollable.

My upbringing in a religious environment, while rich in many ways, also exposed me to experiences that left scars. The pain of religious trauma – the struggle to reconcile faith with reality, the dissonance and confusion – it’s a pain I know all too well. These experiences, although tough, shaped me and fueled my desire to help others navigate their own mental health journeys.

More Than Just a Quick Fix

From my own experience, I knew that traditional therapy methods often fell short. To really help people heal, we needed to dig deeper and provide more comprehensive solutions. This realization led me to an array of therapies, from Person-Centered Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to Motivational Interviewing (MI) and neuropsychology.

I became a certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP) and Clinical Anxiety Treatment Professional (CCATP) in my pursuit of a more effective approach. Armed with these tools, I set out to make a meaningful difference in the mental health field.

A Leap of Innovation

But it wasn’t enough. I wanted to give people like Laura and you more – a tailored approach to navigate through anxiety, depression, trauma, and grief. That’s why I developed the SIMPL™ Method and the Breakthrough Accelerator app. These resources, rooted in science and molded by my personal journey, offer a practical, relatable, proven approach for people to take charge of their mental health.

A New Chapter

Today, Laura is a different woman. She’s rediscovered her strength, her joy, and her zest for life. Her laughter fills the room and her resilience is an inspiration. She stands as a powerful reminder of our inherent capacity for change and recovery.

If you’re reading this, remember: you are not alone. Your journey may be different from Laura’s or mine, but if you’re grappling with anxiety, depression, trauma, or grief, there is always hope.

I invite you to start a new chapter in your story. Together, using the time-tested treatments, the SIMPL Method, and the Breakthrough Accelerator app, we can chart your path to wellness and peace.

Let’s take this step together.
